Description

Wormwood
Artemisia absinthium

This plant is native to Europe.  It is a woody perennial that requires a lot of room as it grows up to five feet tall.

If its botanical name sounds familiar, it is probably because its extract is the basis of the notorious liquor, Absinthe.

Starting from Seed:  Artemisia absinthium seeds will normally only germinate with light, so surface sow seeds onto a well drained seed starting soil mix and lightly water in.  Keep moist and at 17º to 20ºC (about 68ºF).  Depending on the specific conditions, seeds will typically germinate in 14 to 30 days.

Germination can be a little difficult but since each 0.1 gram packet of seeds contains approximately 1200 to 1400 seeds, you should get quite a few starts for your garden.

Attention:
Wormwood is only one of many herbs used in the distillation and creation of the liquor Absinthe. DO NOT purchase wormwood oil intended for aromatherapy and ingest it. You may be seriously injured or die. Using wormwood is potentially dangerous and should only be used medicinally under the consultation of your health practitioner.
(By ordering this seed, you are agreeing that it is allowed in your area or that you will not be cultivating it. Please check with your state and local laws to verify that you can grow this in your area.  It may be classified as a "noxious weed" in your state and cultivation prohibited.)
