Description
Burt's Certified Naturally Grown Seed
95 days — Also known as 'Burt's Soup Bean', it is fast growing, early maturing, reaches eight to ten feet high, and has purple vines that produce eight inch purple pods with six to eight tan colored, kidney shaped seeds per pod.

This bean is being reintroduced by us as part of a special project in memory of bean variety conservationist, horticultural bibliophile, and an early benefactor of ours, the late Mark Futterman.  At the onset of his end-of-life failing health, Mark had the foresight to find homes for his life's work.  (You can read more about the story and about his awesome donation to our horticultural library by clicking here.)

Mark received this heirloom bean from Jan Blum back in 1986.  According to the second edition of the "Garden Seed Inventory," it was introduced by Seeds Blum in 1987.  Rare and in limited supply for the 2014 season.  Each packet contains one ounce, which is approximately 50 seeds.
