Jolly Ranchers Stick Candy
The
Jolly Rancher Candy Company was founded in 1949 in Golden, Colorado, by Bill
and Dorothy Harmsen. They called the company Jolly Rancher to suggest a
hospitable, western company.
They
originally made ice cream, chocolates and hard candies, selling them from their
home. As the hard candy sales
grew, they set up a kitchen in their barn and began to concentrate on developing their "Famous for Flavor"
line. They reached a point where they were producing one million pounds
of candy per week.
In 1966,
the Harmsens sold Jolly Rancher to Beatrice Foods, but continued to be involved
in the day-to-day operations. Leaf purchased Jolly Rancher in 1983 and in
1996, Hershey Foods Corporation acquired the Leaf North American confectionery
operations from Huhtamaki Oy of Helsinki, Finland.
The
Harmsen's have passed away, Bill in 2002 and Dorothy in 2006, but their great
hard candy treat is still available to enjoy.
ATTENTION
Shipping for gum & candy is based on the total weight of your order.
The most economical route for most orders is the US Mail Priority Flat Rate with delivery confirmation. This will run $5.45 for small orders and $10.45 for larger orders.
For larger orders where shipping will be a lot higher, we will calculate the best rate and email you for your approval before we charge your card.
Note: Our shopping cart system is not smart enough to figure this out. So disregard the shipping estimate that it calculates. |
