American native, it was "discovered" along the Missouri
River in 1806 by the Lewis and Clark Expedition,
the Corps of Discovery. By 1815 it was
in Bernard McMahon's seed catalog and widely cultivated.
Sow in May
through July for small sky-blue flowers the following spring. 12 to 36
inches. Perennial.
