These are the original hard candy squares sold by the Charms Candy Company.  Thankfully they are still available today, in the original candy flavor, shape, and packaging.

They have been especially popular with America's armed forces as they stand up well under tough conditions.

Issued during World War II in U.S. combat rations as a supplemental energy food, their colorful outer wrappers were unique among the standard olive drab ration packages.

Unwrapping the roll from its nostalgic foil outer wrapper exposes ten assorted fruit flavored candies that are approximately 3/4 inches square and individually wrapped in cellophane.  The flavors are very good.
