Help Spread The Word! For those who value the work that we are doing and since we do not have much of an advertising budget, we value your referrals and references. Here are a few ideas for other active ways in which you can help to get the word out about our work. 1) If you have your own Web site, please consider adding a link to our site. Click here for linking information. When people link to our site, it helps us place higher in the search engines. 2) Rate us at GardenWatchDog by clicking here. This is a site where you can share your experiences with us to other gardeners. 3) Add your comments to the "Plants By Mail FAQ" by clicking here, locating the webmaster's email link and telling about your experience with us. 4) Inform your favorite magazine editors and local newspaper and television gardening editors about us. Many gardening articles provide sources for seeds at the end. This is a great way for others to "find us". 5) And of course, please continue spreading the word among your family and friends is invaluable to us. Thank You We wish to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support. As a small organization, we appreciate each of your orders, your donations, your feedback, and all of the word of mouth recommendations. It is through your support that we are able to accomplish all that we do. Best of gardening success to you! Support Opportunities Please review our "Needs Page" to see if there are areas where you might be able to plug-in and help further this work. Weather Station One winter project is finally completed. Check out our Liberal, Oregon weather station page and our "Victory FieldCam". |
Spring 2002 News Well we did fund and complete the process of producing and mailing an annual seed catalog in January. If you were on our list of customers within the past two years, you should have received yours. You can also download a copy in PDF file format or request a printed version by clicking here. One thing to remember is that the catalog is a snapshot of our inventory from early January. Please check our Web site for new additions and current stock status. Mail Irradiation Update The latest information that we have received from the U.S. Postal service is that there are no immediate plans for irradiating all mail. At this time, they are only processing mail to selected zip codes for the Federal Government in Washington, D.C. Be assured that we will monitor this situation and take whatever steps are necessary to ensure that your seed shipments are safe. "New" Varieties For 2002 Click Here for the " New for 2002" list. As you look through our online and printed catalog, you will notice a couple of things. We no longer have any treated seeds. Additionally, many of our seeds are organically grown or certified organic. Look for the (OG) and (CO) symbols. Seed Preservation Program Preserving rare seed varieties is the most satisfying part of our work. If you are growing a family heirloom variety and would like help preserving it, please consider sending seed for submission into our seed bank project. We have a page dedicated to this subject. Please click here for more details. |
What's New on the Web Site If you visit our Web site from time to time, you will notice some major obvious changes under way. We have been working through a major redesign in an attempt to standardize the look and navigational feel of the site. This will be an ongoing process for some time. Since we feel that our mission is to preserve and protect seeds, gardening education is as important as getting our seeds into your garden. Where other companies exist to sell seed, our motive is different. Along with our online catalog, we offer a rather eclectic selection of web pages with topics ranging from weather to gardening to current events in science to historical information. Click here for our new Site Map. Shipping Update We are still working hard to get your orders filled within two business days, however, we have had a couple of days where our work load has pushed it out three or four days. I am just mentioning this so you can plan your order accordingly. Web Order System From time to time, our ordering system becomes busy and occasionally will return an error to you. If you have entered all of your information and upon clicking on the "Process Order" button receive an error beginning with "Unhandled exception", click your browser's "Back" button, wait a minute or so, and click on "Process Order" again. We are looking into these traffic related issues but fear that the ultimate solution will not be attainable until we can bring our Web servers onto the farm. This will require more money than we can presently afford. (Do you have any connections to hi-tech donors :) If all else fails, print the order screen and mail, phone or fax your order in. We greatly appreciate your patience! |
