2002 Catalog Update We revisit the issue of creating, printing and mailing a catalog every year. It is a huge expense with questionable returns. Since we have invested in security measures to make online ordering safe, the majority of our business is transacted there. On the other hand, a printed catalog is a great tool for outreach. They are a way to introduce ourselves to people and teach them about our mission. Therefore, we are actively (frantically) working on producing the 2002 Seed Annual. We are hopeful that it will be available by the 25th of January. All customers who ordered from us last year will be mailed a catalog automatically. Calling All Seed Savers! We have put out this request in the past. This is a very important aspect to the success of our work and very integral to our seed saving and preservation efforts. If you are an experienced seed saver, know of one, or would like to learn, please contact us. We are seeking people who can grow seeds that are true to type (good genetic integrity), high quality, and are organically produced. Please click here for more information about joining our growing network. |
Mail Irradiation Update As of 1/7/02, the U.S. Postal service has still not presented a comprehensive plan outlining their intent to irradiate and potentially damage seed shipments in the process of making the mail safe from bioterrorism.
We are not alone in this concern. Shippers of plant and animal materials, magnetic media, and the photo / film industry are among others who will be affected if sensitive mail is subjected to the new electron beam machines.
According to an article in the direct marketing trade journal, "DM News", it sounds like the postal service is changing plans towards detection and vacuuming technologies. We are confident that the mail will remain safe yet still allow for sensitive materials, like seeds, to be transported.
If you prefer another shipping method, please contact us and let us know that you approve the added UPS shipping fees.

"New" Varieties For 2002 Welcome to 2002! Where does the time go? 2001 was an exciting year. The number of people who learned about our work increased through several newspaper articles, write-ups in Mother Earth News and other magazines and even as a guest of a talk radio show. We made many new friends as well as added several new growers to our network of seed suppliers. Along with increasing the number of varieties grown here on the farm, our network of growers have helped to fill in ones that we have trouble growing here. As you look through our online and printed catalog, you will notice a couple of things. We no longer have any treated seeds. Additionally, many of our seeds are organically grown and a growing number are from certified organic growers. Look for the (OG) and (CO) symbols. Click Here for the new seed variety list. Thank You We wish to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support. As a small organization, we appreciate each of your orders, your donations, your feedback, and all of the word of mouth recommendations. Best of gardening success to you! Don't take our word for it. What others are saying about us. |
