With the 2002 holiday season past and the 2003 Seed Annual printed and mailed out to all of our active gardening friends, we are in the midst of our spring garden sales season.

Although the number of orders that we send out is increasing, we are still staffed with the same number of family members.  We are striving to send out orders within two business days but during busy spells, it can take 3 or 4.  Your patience is appreciated!

On top of the this, we learned on 2/21/03 that we may be in a battle to save the livability of our farmhouse.  Read more about the issue in our blog by clicking here.

Web Site
 News

Our web site is very fluid.  Content is continually being updated and added to.  If you notice a broken link, an error, would like to make a suggestion, or just want to say hi, please do contact us.

One big project is our shopping cart system.  We use a purchased software solution as we do not have internal staffing to create a custom solution.  The system is quite good and meets our number one requirement of being secure.

If you have not visited the site to make a purchase since last year, you will notice an obvious change in that our system now will save you time by remembering your basic customer information.  For security reasons, we do not store credit card data.  We are now working on implementing a new upgrade.  It should be completed in the next few weeks.

2003
Catalog

Every year we look at the ever increasing costs associated with creating, printing and mailing a seed catalog and wonder if it is truly worth it.

As a traditional gardener myself, I love receiving seed catalogs.  I have fond memories associated with pouring over them to decide what new seeds I just had to try as soon as winter transitioned into spring.

We found a new lithographer that worked with us.  We got the catalogs printed out on higher quality paper than in the past and saved money in the process!

If you would like to receive a catalog, we are asking for $2.00 which we refund with your order.  You may request a copy by clicking here.

Support Opportunities

Your orders are the primary method by which we are able to keep this work moving.  Please review our "Needs Page" to see if there are areas where you might be able to plug-in and help further our work.

Seed Preservation Work

Preserving family and other rare seed varieties is the most satisfying part of our work.

If you are growing a family heirloom or a rare old time commercially released variety and would like help  preserving it, please consider sending us a sample.

 Seedsmen.org
New Resource

Researching and documenting the pedigrees of heirloom seeds is an integral part of our preservation work. It has become evident that certain individuals and company's stand out for their work and contributions.

We have created a new resource for the general public to honor these people.  Additionally, we are sponsoring a cooperative project for viewing classic seed catalogs.  You can visit the material online at Seedsmen.org.

If you find this project useful and would like to contribute, support can be as simple as an encouraging email, scans of catalog pages in your collection, financial contributions, or donations of old agricultural books, magazines and catalogs.

Thank You

We wish to take this opportunity to again thank you for your continued support. As a small organization, we appreciate each of your orders, your donations, your feedback, and all of the word of mouth recommendations.  It is through your support that we are able to accomplish all that we do.

Best of gardening success to you!
