Description

Bafra
Nicotiana tabacum L
[ Approximately 100 seeds per packet ]

Plants grow to about five feet tall, cure to a medium reddish-brown color, and reportedly has a low nicotine content. Named after the Bafra district in the Samsun Province of Turkey. It was described in 1922 as follows:
"Bafra tobacco is particularly famous for its exquisite taste and aromatic quality. Most of it is stemless. It is rather a darkish-red in color, and the leaves are tongue-shaped."[1]
It is an old Turkish-type tobacco used historically as a pipe and cigarette blending tobacco variety. The original seed was USDA accession number PI 494146 and is grown for us by David Pendergrass from Tennessee.

Tobacco plants are very interesting, ornamental, and have uses apart from consumption. This section of the website is intended for the historical and informational purposes of thinking adults. Anyone who has been raised since the turn of the 20th century already knows that tobacco can be addictive and can contribute to various medical ailments.  If you do not smoke, it would seem illogical to start.  We in no way encourage people to use any form of tobacco product.
