Description

Connecticut Shade
Nicotiana tabacum L
[ Approximately 100 seeds per packet ]

The plants can reach eight feet in height with leaves that are light green colored averaging a foot wide by eighteen inches long. When shade grown, the leaves are finer, larger, and more elastic than if they are grown in the full sun producing some of the finest cigar wrappers.

'Connecticut Shade' was historically grown under trees and used as cigar binder tobacco, as well as for cigar wrappers and filler. Our seed originated from USDA accession number PI 552621 and is grown for us by David Pendergrass from Tennessee.

Tobacco plants are very interesting, ornamental, and have uses apart from consumption. This section of the website is intended for the historical and informational purposes of thinking adults. Anyone who has been raised since the turn of the 20th century already knows that tobacco can be addictive and can contribute to various medical ailments.  If you do not smoke, it would seem illogical to start.  We in no way encourage people to use any form of tobacco product.
