Maryland Mammoth
Nicotiana tabacum L
[ Approximately 100 seeds per packet ]

'Maryland Mammoth', as its name implies, is a Maryland-type tobacco. The plant's pink flowers aren't displayed until quite late in the season, which means that it produces more leaves than other varieties. However, this also means that there is often not time to produce mature seed pods before frost kills the plants.

Developed as a cross between 'Maryland Broadleaf' with 'Maryland Narrowleaf', our seed originated from USDA accession number PI 551337 which was donated to the tobacco collection in 1906. It was developed and released by D. E. Brown of the Maryland Agricultural Experiment Station. Our 'Maryland Mammoth' seed was grown for us in Tennessee by David Pendergrass.
