Description
Maple Arrow

75 to 125 days — The plants reach thirty to thirty six inches tall and pods contain three seeds each. The beans are small, slightly oval, and yellow in color.

Historically, this is a very important variety and is the parent of many subsequent varieties. 'Maple Arrow' is credited with revolutionizing soy production in Canada. Although soy was introduced into Canada in the 1890s, it was not until the release of 'Maple Arrow' in 1976 that field production took off and soy became a serious commodity there.

It was bred as a cross between 'Harosoy 63' and 'Holmberg 840-1-3' and in the USDA's collection as accession number PI 548593.[1] Each packet contains 25 to 30 seeds.
