widely cultivated throughout North America by native peoples for
ceremonial purposes. |
Havana
(Nicotiana tabacum) - A productive plant that reaches about
five feet tall and produces pretty, pink, trumpet shaped flowers.
It was used for cigars and chewing. |
Mohawk
(Nicotiana rustica) - A sacred tobacco of the Eastern
tribes. It is reportedly high in nicotine and was used for ceremonial
purposes and not habitual smoking. |
