Description
Dr. Wyche's Yellow Certified Naturally Grown Seed
87 days, indeterminate — The golden-yellow fruits are large (up to 28 ounces), turn orange at maturity and are oblate in shape.  They are meaty, firm textured, and excellent flavored.  A great slicing tomato.  One of the best yellow beafsteaks available.

This tomato was originally sent to Craig LeHoullier in 1992 by John D. Green (of 'Cherokee Purple' fame).  Craig was the first to make it available to the general public. Mr. Green stated that Dr. Wyche (who also released 'Cherokee Trail of Tears' bean) sent him the variety just before passing away in 1985.  Dr. Wyche had actually called it 'Hot Yellow' but after his passing, and prior to its commercial release, it was renamed in his honor.  Dr. Carolyn Male lists it on page 100 and 101 of her book, "100 Heirloom Tomatoes for the American Garden."

Each packet contains approximately 20 seeds.

Dr. John Wyche (1911-1985) was a gardener, seed preservationist, circus owner, and dentist from Hugo, Oklahoma.
