Description
Sarandipity Certified Naturally Grown Seed Certified Naturally Grown Seed

65 days, tree-type — This was a brand new release by the "Dwarf Tomato Project" and introduced commercially by the Victory Seed Company for the 2015 gardening season.

The vigorous, relatively compact dwarf regular leaf plants produce a heavy yield of medium to medium small sized (two to four ounce) round chocolate fruit with vertical green stripes. The firm, deep crimson flesh is mild and sweet, and the productivity and fruit size and texture make this a great canning or grilling variety.

This variety originated with a cross between 'Black Zebra' and a pink selection of the "Cheeky family," made by Ray South and named "Streaky." 'Sarandipity' was selected and named by Craig LeHoullier after his daughter Sara.

Among those who contributed to stabilizing this new dwarf variety were Tessa Millesse, Paul Fish, Susan Oliverson, Ginny Bishton, Patrina Nuske Small, Amanda Fischer, Marla McClaren, Ginger Eisenberg, Carol Knapp, Jason Ford, and Craig LeHoullier. Each packet contains approximately 20 seeds.

In an effort to keep this variety available to home gardeners, 'Sarandipity' has been released by "The Dwarf Tomato Project" (the breeder) to the public under the Open Source Seed Initiative (OSSI). You have the freedom to use these OSSI-Pledged seeds in any way you choose. In return, if you save seeds or use 'Sarandipity' to breed a new variety, you pledge not to restrict others' use of these seeds or their derivatives by patents or other means, and to include this pledge with any transfer of these seeds or their derivatives.
