Ralph's Italian Heirloom Certified Naturally Grown Seed

100 days — 'Ralph's Italian Heirloom' is a pole-type green bean variety produces classically shaped, flat-podded, Italian-type bean pods that are tender and tasty when young. The vines grow ten feet or more in height.

This bean is being reintroduced by us as part of a special project in memory of bean variety conservationist, horticultural bibliophile, and an early benefactor of ours, the late Mark Futterman. At the onset of his end-of-life failing health, had the foresight to find homes for his life's work. (You can read more about the story and about his awesome donation to our horticultural library by clicking here.)

We received this heirloom bean from a seed saver George McLaughlin (OK MC G), who was also Mr. Futterman's source back in 1987. It is quite rare and usually in limited supply.

NOTE: If you are interested in this variety, please add yourself to the waiting list and we will notify you as soon as it is back in stock. If everything goes well, it should be available for the 2020 gardening season.

Each packet contains one ounce, which is approximately 50 seeds.
