Tongue of Fire

70 days — 'Tongue of Fire' is a bush, cranberry-type, horticultural bean variety. Its six-inch pods are ivory-tan that develop red streaks and spots as they mature. The seeds are large and roundish. Its immature pods can be eaten as string beans, harvested when the seeds are plump at the green shelling stage, or allowed to remain on the vines and harvested as a dry bean. They have an excellent flavor and texture, and are good fresh, canned, frozen, or dried.

An Italian heirloom variety, 'Tongue of Fire' is also known as 'Borlotti Lingua di Fuoco'. It was reported to have been originally collected from Tierra del Fuego[1] on the tip of South America. Each packet contains one ounce, which is approximately 55 seeds.
These beans have the most amazing, rich, buttery flavor. Everyone loves them, right down to our 3-year-old. Our family of six will definitely be planting more of these in the future!
