Upland Cress
Barbarea verna
50 days — A dwarf plant with notched, small oval shaped leaves that are two inches long. Used in salads and as a cooked green. It has a mild, peppery flavor similar to that of nasturtium leaves. Sow in spring or fall and use in a cut and come again fashion.
This is the best type of cress for home gardeners and is generally slow to bolt. It is a biennial in zones 5 through 9. Each packet contains one gram, which is approximately 325 seeds.
