Solanum melongena var esculentum

70 days — 'Diamond' has plants that reach about two feet tall and bear beautiful, dark purple fruits that are best harvested when they reach six to nine inches in length.  The flesh is pale green, mild, and rarely bitter.

Originally obtained from the Ukraine by the Seed Savers Exchange in 1993, 'Diamond' is a good choice for home or market use.

Our 'Diamond' eggplant seeds are grown for us in Middle Tennessee by David Pendergrass. Each packet contains 0.25 gram, which is approximately 25 seeds.

Great yields
I grew these for five years in New Hampshire and gave eggplants to all my friends. Everyone was very pleased with the color, texture and taste.

We get up to twenty eggplants per bush. Put straw under plants or tie up branches, so fruits don't lie on the dirt.
