Arugula
Eruca sativa
Arugula is a spicy flavored plant that has been grown as a salad green in Europe for centuries. All parts of the plant are edible and harvest is enjoyed over a long period of time as a "cut and come again" type of crop. Arugula is typically ready to harvest in thirty to forty days.
It is also known as rocket or roquette and is popular in Italian cuisine. Its interesting flavor makes it a nice addition to soups and sauces when puréed with other herbs like sorrel and garlic.
Thrives in cool weather so plant successive sowings, early in the spring and into the summer. Each packet contains 0.25 gram, which is approximately 80 seeds.
