Heinz VF Certified Naturally Grown Seed

75 days, determinate — 'Heinz VF' tomato is an early maturing, bright red, crack resistant tomato. The plants have regular leaves, produce heavy crops, and are resistant to both fusarium and verticillium disease. Since it is a determinate variety, the fruits all tend to ripen within a relatively short period of time making it a good processing type tomato.

Reportedly bred and originally introduced by the Heinz Company, we have been growing this variety here on the farm in Oregon since the late 1990s. We are still trying to track down the history and pedigree of this cultivar. To date, the earliest record we have found in an old Terre Haute, Indiana newspaper where the old Quinlan Seed Store was advertising plants for sale.[1] Each packet contains approximately 20 seeds.

Best Tomatoes ever!
In spite of the poor growing conditions this past year, too much rain, not enough sunshine, my Heinz tomatoes produced a nice crop of delicious tomatoes. While my neighbors experience tomato blight and even my Rutgers did not fare as well, the Heinz did amazingly well. I can't wait to see what the Heinz does with a good growing season. This tomato is going to be the main staple in my garden!
