Description
Loxton Lad Certified Naturally Grown Seed Certified Naturally Grown Seed

70 days, tree-type — The vigorous, productive, rugose, regular leaf dwarf plants produce smooth, orange, oblate-shaped fruit that range between six to sixteen ounces in weight, with a well-balanced, delicious flavor. The fruit sizes of 'Loxton Lad' are generally larger than its cousin, 'Loxton Lass'.

This "Dwarf Tomato Project" variety originated with a cross between 'Rosella Purple' and 'Orange Heirloom' made by Patrina Nuske Small in 2009 and named "Rosy." 'Loxton Lad' was selected from this family and named by Patrina after a country town in a citrus growing river land region in South Australia.  Involved in the development were Patrina, Doug Frank, Shawn Conant, Patrick Sullivan, Craig LeHoullier and Bill Minkey.

Introduced for the 2016 gardening season. Each packet contains approximately 20 seeds.

In an effort to keep this variety available to home gardeners, 'Loxton Lad' has been released by "The Dwarf Tomato Project" (the breeder) to the public under the Open Source Seed Initiative (OSSI). You have the freedom to use these OSSI-Pledged seeds in any way you choose. In return, if you save seeds or use 'Loxton Lad' to breed a new variety, you pledge not to restrict others' use of these seeds or their derivatives by patents or other means, and to include this pledge with any transfer of these seeds or their derivatives. My favorite tomato of 2017.
This tomato has a wonderful flavor and did very well in my North Texas garden. The yield was good for being a dwarf. It was my favorite tomato of 2017.
