Loxton Lass Certified Naturally Grown Seed Open Source Seed Initiative

70 days, dwarf — The vigorous, productive, rugose, regular leaf dwarf plants of 'Loxton Lass' produce orange colored, smooth, oblate-shaped fruit that range between six to twelve ounces in weight. They have a well-balanced, delicious flavor.

Introduced in 2016, this Dwarf Tomato Project variety originated with a cross between 'Rosella Purple' and 'Orange Heirloom' made by Patrina Nuske Small in 2009 and named "Rosy." 'Loxton Lass' was selected and named by Patrina after an a country town in a citrus growing river land region in South Australia. Others involved in the stabilization process were Willa Osis, Doug Frank, Sue Bailey, Nancy Ruhl, Shawn Conant, Craig LeHoullier, and Bill Minkey. Each packet contains approximately 20 seeds.
Productive & Pretty
Loxton Lass is a medium-sized, slightly oblate tomato (averaging around six ounces) that ripens to a truly beautiful shade of orange. It is a very productive plant that handled our 2020 heatwave quite well, all things considered. The interior flesh is very meaty with small seed locules, so it holds its shape well when sliced. The flavor is quite sweet and, due to that, it doesn't have a prominent acidic kick. And it isn't an intense flavor profile (leans a bit more on the milder side of the equation), but it is quite pleasing and versatile in many dishes. I look forward to growing it again in the not-too-distant future.
