Marianna's Peace Certified Naturally Grown Seed

85 days, indeterminate — The plants of 'Marianna's Peace' have potato leaf foliage producing fruit that are a deep, reddish-pink color, weigh one pound on average, and deliver a good, balanced, sweet-acid flavor. They are very meaty and a shy-seeded variety like 'Brandywine.'

'Marianna's Peace' was introduced in 2001 by Gary Isben of Tomatofest and named in honor of his mother-in-law, Marianne Worschech Tibbetts. A family heirloom with roots in pre-WW II Czechoslovakia, our original sample was sent to us by David Pendergrass. Each packet contains approximately 20 seeds.
Buttery Smooth
This is a very mild tomato with a distinctive buttery smooth texture. Slightly sweet with low acid. Skin is relatively thin and splits easily. We will plant them again next year for variety.

Pleasantly surprised ...
I had a packet of these tomato seeds from the 2018 season, which had been stored in less-than-optimal conditions (a damp basement). I planted ten of the seeds in peat pellets in March 2021, and a week later, I have ten healthy seedlings. That's right -- ONE HUNDRED PERCENT germination rate for 3 year old, poorly stored seeds. I couldn't be happier. Will be buying all my seeds from Victory from now on.

Always a favorite.
This tomato is something special, and I agree with the other reviewer that called it "buttery." I usually describe it as creamy, and it has a texture like no other. Almost melts in your mouth. There are more intensely flavored fruits, but this one really is something special. I only wish it produced more for me here in my garden. It's a huge plant, and to get as many as I would love to have would take more yard than I have to devote to it. But it's well worth the effort. Beats the Brandywines hands down in my book. A true classic.
