Pearson

85 days, determinate — The regular-leaf plants of 'Pearson' are productive yet compact, reaching two to three feet in height. Their red colored fruit are small, averaging one to three ounces each, globe to flattened-globe shaped, with smooth, tough skins, firm yet juicy flesh, and have a nice, mild flavor.

It was originally introduced and adopted as a commercial production tomato, popular in the coastal areas of California for the shipping and canning markets. Its attributes for production are the same that made it popular with gardeners and market growers. We have been offering 'Pearson Improved' for many years. It is readily available commercially and we believe that most, if not all, of the seed presently marketed as "Pearson" is in fact the improved cultivar.

Developed by Dr. Oscar (O. H.) Pearson of the USDA, California Station as a cross between 'Fargo' and 'California 55' and released in 1936. Our seed originated from USDA GRIN accession number PI 212416. Each packet contains at least 20 seeds.
