Shagbark Hickory Handled Pointed Garden Hoe
Similar in design to the classic “Pointed Garden Hoe” (Weeder)
, but with a fifteen inch long handle (twenty two inches long overall), this tool was built with raised bed gardening in mind. Each tool head is individually and forged and the then married to the naturally finished, “bark on,” ‘Shagbark Hickory’ handle using brass rivets.
The curved shape of the tool provides a perfect angle for the hoeing motion gardeners are constantly performing. The carefully balanced weight of the tool, combined with this momentum, makes the Pointed Garden Hoe useful for breaking up the soil, digging holes for transplanting, and for weeding around your plantings.
The pointed end of the hoe head is also great for marking rows for seed sowing. The shape of the tool is reminiscent of a leaf, which is fun. The subtle patina and extra loop in the stem give this tool a great balance and modern flair. Enjoy the aesthetics and utility a truly one of kind creation made just for a gardener and lover of fine things.
The dimensions are approximately twenty two inches long by three inches wide.Note:
'Shagbark Hickory' (Carya ovata var. ovata
is) is an American hardwood in the walnut family. The combination of strength, toughness, and hardness of hickory is found in no other commercial wood and is why it is prized as the perfect material for tool handles.
