Dwarf Candytuft
Iberis umbellata

Currently unavailable, we suggest Alyssum 'Carpet of Snow' and Painted Daisy as alternatives.

A tender perennial and native to the Mediterranean region, it is generally grown as an annual in most of North America and in cooler climates. Even though it can perform like a perennial when grown in a climate similar to its native region, you won't have to wait for a year for its white, tinged with pink or purple, flowers to appear. The flower heads, made up of many tiny flowers, will bloom within weeks from germinating.

To grow, prepare your seedbed in the spring and simply scatter the seeds onto the loosened ground. Lightly scratch or water in; do not cover to much. 'Candytuft' prefers dry conditions so plant in a location with well-drained soil that receives full sun throughout the growing season. Do keep the seeds moist until germination occurs. Plants grow twelve to eighteen inches in height. Zones 3-9. Each packet contains 0.5 gram, which is about 200 seeds.
