Aunt Edna

90 days, indeterminate — The regular leaf vines are vigorous, productive, naturally sprawling and benefit from support. 'Aunt Edna' fruit are red in color, smooth-skinned, are globe to flattened-globe in shape, and weigh between four and twelve ounces with the majority of fruit averaging about eight ounces each.

They are actually quite uniform in shape and size and fall into the mild flavored red category. A good choice for canning and processing, they are also equally suited wedged in a tossed green salad.

This variety was sent to us in early 2017 by Craig LeHoullier who told us that it is a, "... medium red, nearly heart shaped, nice family heirloom shared with me by a book reader."[1] That reader, Peg Palmer, told us that the seeds had been handed down in the McNeil family for many years. Her grandparents, John and Cecil McNeil, would grow over one hundred plants every year so that they could use only the best ones for canning.

Mr. McNeil's sister, Edna (McNeil) Chadwell from Corbin, Kentucky, had grown this tomato every year, storing the seeds in a sugar bowl, until Peg and her sister inherited them in 2012 upon Aunt Edna's passing. Each packet contains approximately 20 seeds.
